Social Navigation Support through Group Play Therapy for Neurodivergent Youth

Participants will learn about the "Kid 2 Kid" integrative, group play therapy format created by Monica Fyfe. Monica will share considerations for law and ethics, member selection, agendas and goals, and limit setting in a group environment. Learning Objectives

  • Describe 3 legal and ethical considerations when creating a social skills group for kids or teens.
  • Describe ways to ensure the group is Neurodivergent-friendly and Strength-Affirming, for all members.
  • Describe a Teaching Interaction (TI) and how this differs from Behavior Skills Training (BST).
  • Identify 2 examples of enrichment activities/interventions that are inspired by ACT or Theraplay.
  • Identify the value of video-modeling, cognitive rehearsals and behavioral rehearsals, in supporting social navigation skill and choices in youth.
