Learning Objectives

  • State the two learning theories merged to form Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Interventions.
  • Name the 13 Features common to NDBI and Identify how each of these core features are evident in the two NDBIs discussed (ESDM and JASPER).
  • Describe what behavior analytic tools are used to assess baseline skills in each of the NDBIs discussed.
  • State how quality of intervention is evaluated in both the ESDM and JASPER

Course Instructor(s)

  • Janet Harder, SLP, BCBA

    Janet Harder is a Speech-language Pathologist (SLP), Board Certified Behavior Analyst, parent coach trainer, certified Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) trainer and therapist. She believes that parents are both the experts and critical lifelong advocates for their children and parent coaching is central to her work with families. At JHMJ Coaching & Consulting, Janet and Michaela practice JASPER, ESDM, and have participated in research for The Parent and Child Early (PACE) Coaching Project. JHMJ is located on Vancouver Island in Canada, however, they provide trainings to clinicians all over the world.

  • Michaela Jelen, M.Ed.

    Michaela Jelen is a special educator, behavior consultant, and a doctoral student. Her PhD studies are focused on parent coaching in early intervention. Michaela is a certified Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) therapist and trainer, a parent coach and trainer, and has a strong interest in evidence-informed practices.
