Playful Pathways: Enhancing Therapy Outcomes for Young Autistic Children with Strength-Affirming and Evidence-Driven, Playful Approaches

CE Hours 3

About this course

This webinar will provide a rich review of some high-quality, attachment-based, play-based, gold standard, research-based strategies, approaches and interventions, when supporting an autistic child in therapy.
Topics will include:
How to consider a neurodivergent-affirming framework and reduce ableism in our goal selection, office presentation, interventions, interactions and more.
How to be mindful of "compassionate care" instead of compliance, and establish Assent from our clients, right from the start with rapport-building and throughout treatment.
How to share a diagnosis with a child including bibliotherapy and role-plays, if it is desired.
Evidence-based interventions and approaches that support autistic kids in their play skills and social and emotional skills: including Priming, Prompting, Praise and Feedback, shaping, modeling, script fading, Joint attention, and therapist communication.
Introduction to some available approaches including an Intro to JASPER®, Theraplay®-informed interventions, and PEERS® for Preschooler tips!
